Our stories are written on our bodies; an intimate, unique tapestry of our journey. It is stunning in all its forms and an integral aspect of our identities. Risking this vulnerability was essential, as I needed to break out of the inherent shame and stigma surrounding the naked body. There are many paths to healing; I have simply walked one of them, however it is my hope that in sharing my story, others may find the courage to do the same.

My work has often been described as dark or morbid; this is not my intent, nor has it ever been my intent to “shock.” Rather, my work is about finding the beauty within every experience and in so doing, redeem it, for it is in acknowledging our struggle that we heal as individuals, as a people and as a society.
